In my opinion, it’s somewhat puzzling (again, from my perspective) that the nations residing in Canaan (Israel) before the Hebrews, led by Yehoshua ben Nun, arrived, faced punishment at all. The Torah often emphasizes that their ‘time’ was up and their expulsion was due to the sins they committed. But what sins exactly? They only had 7 commandments to adhere to!

This highlights how profoundly the land reacts to our behavior, akin to the concerns of environmentalists who strive to keep physical garbage out of the land. There’s a parallel between the earthly Jerusalem and the spiritual realm above. The spiritual actions, executed through our physical bodies, are detested by the land itself. It’s a poignant lesson to ponder.
