The torah, very early on – in the literal beginning tells the world about murder.

And later [7 generations ] the murderer is then murdered. But would that not be justice to kill a murder? Thus, the torah , in what might be al a gav raises the question – does capital punishment [the death penalty] stop murders from happening ? [And even deeper dive does it prevent other "lower" crimes?

Obviously the death penalty does not in fact stop people from murder. What measures would?

The 7 Noahide laws … also try to address harming oneself / harming others, and even address animal cruelty! So humanity is trying….liat liat liat to address violence [and the ultimate end, death to others or suicide]

/// a bit back to before the Noahide laws ///

God Itself [I do not refer to God as Him]

, God Itself, decides that mankind is so beyond repair / repentance, that It will bring a Flood. Now God Itself does not do this instantly. The text of the Torahs timeline declares that 100 years passed between telling Noach about the Flood and the Flood itself. And one of the purposes of the Ark was to get people curious and ask Noach why he was building it. [How would the word get out? Did people in Japan / Australia/ South / North America / etc etc etc know]??? Maybe when they saw all the animals heading away they might have wondered what was going on. Okay not ALL the worlds animals, but you know what I meant.

So the world did not repent. I cannot now go into all the wars / examples of murder throughout the 5 Books or Tenach, …. most people have a vague or better idea that humans in the torah times / tenach were violent.

And worldwide. So, back to the question above…. does Capital punishment actually "work"?

Does wearing a seatbelt actually help if one is going over 50km /hour and hits another car head on going 50km/hour [or more] simple physics states that most likely both drivers die.. if one is at 50km /hour or above the impact is the same as falling off the top of a 12 story building

Anyway, … .. on the OTHER hand, why do anything at all???? Strongest survive…herd immunity some would say. Let the strong man / party kill as many as possible, do not do anything, and whomever survives passes on stronger genes.

People quite recently, as in like 2 years ago adapted this for an invisible to human eye killer. Why do anything?? Just let it do its thing

But a human murderer??? He / She needs a consequence

How effective is the punishment?

, so all the above, the fact that, nebuch, death penalty does not in-fact totally stop murders from happening, but we need to have some consequences leads me to the End of Days [and the connected getting a totally new heart]

Perhaps the End of Day[s] is the end of murder/ violence? And the day after that is what the messianic era is??? !!!

The wolf lying down with the lamb ….is a metaphor that actual violent people [the wolf] will no longer be violent [due to getting a new heart], [[[ and we need to remember that wisdom is in the heart, so the new heart also comes with new wisdom]]]

And the new wisdom ?????? Not to harm anyone — cooperation over force of will, the new heart / wisdom will be — we are actually all brothers/sisters!!!!

Hallaluyeh!!!
