One probably can wash / wish away Sarah Emanu’hs lie. Heck Cain lied when he said to God that he did not know where his brother, Abel was. The generation that caused the flood was so terrible that the whole earth – and animals were corrupt. And the various commentators attribute worse actions than lying to the generation of the Flood.

I think the main thing is that she scared, and / or caught in her lie. Did she not believe God Knows our thoughts? No human can grasp / understand God. Therefore one can say she is just exactly how everyone is when it comes to God. We simply cannot fathom that every thing is made by God, happens due to God. God "hears" so to speak all.
