Subject: Oh the Bible… it sure is interesting!

if we as human beings could just follow a few of the following passages from the Bible – think what the society would be like!

Not to curse Judges / Rulers ! I bet every judge/ ruler would like that!

Don’t follow the majority for evil. Hey, all of Europe you really should have taken that to heart, and then we wouldn’t have had the Holocaust. Don’t accept Bribes. Hey, that eliminates the mob.

Don’t oppress a stranger. Wow. I guess all the people who want to throw out the 50,000 plus Africans that are currently in Israel haven’t read the Bible – or they don’t believe in it, or …. or…

yeh, it’s a tough one to follow isn’t it?

Don’t mention the names of other gods….

that’s hard. what if I meet someone with the name Jesus? By the way is it the same question about saying "shalom" to someone in a situation when you can’t say G-ds name (like in a Mikva)? What if someone’s personal name is a name of a ‘god’?

Seriously, it actually is a hard one to follow. I mean I can’t say "Monday" or "Thursday" or "Sunday" or "Saturday". I can’t say "Tammuz" In fact almost all or probably all of the current names of the Jewish months come from names of ‘other gods’… so how can we even say the names of our own months? or Esther (from Ishtar). Not saying ‘other gods’ is harder than we think. By the way, the bigger question about ‘other’ gods is… how could there even be ‘other’ gods if we believe in One G-d? And by saying that there are no ‘gods’ at all (atheists) is that actually fulfilling the command to not mention other gods? Maybe Atheists got it right after all?

But G-d Itself states that there are ‘other’ gods…. it seems to be a very difficult question to resolve.
